Masterthesis - first semester

An escape from the hustle and bustle of the city has never been more needed than today. Our lives are drenched in a pervasive abundance of information that makes us over-stimulated, stressed and tired. A few days relaxing in nature can have a tremendous effect on our state of mind. The cabane placed in the Kalmthoutse Heide should serve as a place to rest and regain strength both physically and mentally. Therefore, the space in the cabana must be adaptable for self-reflection and movement. It should encourage the user to be active and creative.

The cabana is an artifact of inner and outer exploration. The project is seen as an experience rather than an object standing in space. The concept started from my the dynamic approach on modernist architecture. I would create a place of rest and relaxation where the visitor can come to himself, exercise and rest his body. This concept is fully in line with modernist thinking for "a healthy mind in a healthy body.
