The national yard in Antwerp is no longer used to its full potential. The initial goal of this neighborhood, designed by Renaat Bream, Flor Laforce and Geo Brosens, was to create a dense community where an interactive network between residents is key. Where there used to be spontaneous encounters, residents now live side by side as individuals.
My concept relies on the target group of creative entrepreneurs and startups who can find their living-e working environment here. The apartment buildings on the corner of the street will be transformed into workspaces and studios combined with shared facilities for the neighborhood such as a laundry bar and lending library.
The repurposed National Site in Borgerhout is a dynamic meeting place where individuals become active participants in the life of their community. The green street seeks a contiguity with the nearby "Te Boelaer Park. The design offers a creative hotspot and is transformed into a safe residential environment with a multitude of places for different living and living qualities.
